Place Standard [Latvia]

In a Nutshell:

Inspired by Scotland, the Place Standard Tool brings public health, socio-economic inequalities and place-making theory into a simple-to-use-product that can assist professionals and communities in identifying what works well and what needs improving within a local community. Place Standard seeks to maximize the potential of the physical and social environment in supporting health, well-being and a high-quality of life; the tool provides a simple framework to structure conversations about the physical elements and the social aspects of a place. INHERIT helps apply the Place Standard tool in the City of Riga, capital of Latvia.

Health-Equity-Environment:

Place Standard aims to create healthy places through dialogue between organisations and communities focused on the key drivers of health while emphasizing the health equity and socio-economic needs of vulnerable groups. In parallel, the tool raises awareness about environmental impacts of mobility (cycling and walking), public transport, housing, green areas and urban planning.
